Mountain Bike Trail and BMX Pump Track – Trehafren Hill

The blue line mountain bike trail is a hardcore circular route running 1 mile around Trehafren Hill.

Our BMX Pump Track has a tarmac surface, suitable for bikes, scooters, skateboards and roller boots / blades.

The mountain bike trail has a number of challenging drops, jumps and berms, suitable for beginners and the novice rider.

We will be completing entrance way works and constructing a new car park prior to advertising the trails extensively.

Alignment to National, County and local strategy

With support from Hafren Cycles, Welsh Cycling and Sport Wales, we have delivered on the national document which recommended additional cycling facilities in Newtown.

Future additions

We will be creating an enterprise opportunity for delivering of bike hire, coaching, changing facilities, amenities, bike repairs, retail and refreshment provision.

Q&A

  1. Will the walking trails remain? Yes, the informal pathways remain and we’ll be introducing further signage and improvements to make it clear what are cycle routes and what are pathways.
  2. Will there be control of the gateways and parking area? Yes, we will be installing gates to limit bikes exiting at speed on the roadway and introducing a Parking Eye to control parking on the hill, encouraging locals to walk or cycle to the site, saving parking spaces for those people travelling in from afar.
